Bless our God, O peoples! Give him a thunderous welcome! Didn’t he set us on the road to life? Didn’t he keep us out of the ditch? He trained us first, passed us like silver through refining fires, Brought us into hardscrabble country, pushed us to our very limit, Road-tested us inside and out, took us to hell and back; Finally he brought us to this well-watered place.
Psalm 66:8-12 MSG
God wouldn’t use anyone He has not trained by testing.
Great automobile companies that sell on the African market go the extra mile to road-test their vehicles inside and out for certification. Our roads are not the normal roads for just any vehicle.
The life the Christian is called to live is not the normal ordinary life of roller-coaster, but a life of cross bearing on a rugged road. The faint-hearted will not survive here, hence the need for God to first take us through the furnace of affliction.
All the negative experiences of life were indeed part of God’s training, as if going to hell and back.
If you ever felt you had been in hell, then welcome to the club of the Overcomer. God did not intend to destroy you, rather, the way to the watered place is sometimes to go through hell. Look at your bruises, your marks, the scars, disappointments and failures and see what a General you have become.
Don’t be impressed by the testimony of him that simply got answers to prayers.
The success of a person doesn’t simply lie in what the world sees as accomplishments but rather what the person has overcome. The size of cathedrals, membership, and number of books written by great men of God is not what defines them but rather the years of neglect, they have endured, yet not giving up.
Don’t be impressed by the pomp and pageantry on the wedding day but rather the years of endurance when no one will propose and yet faith in God did not wane.
Your classmates in society will post the writings of successful people as wisdom but will neglect yours not because they hate you, but because the world is not trained to celebrate our own.
Just wait till you’ve gone through the furnace of life to the very apogee then you’ll see the number of people that “know” you.
That’s why you need to choose your close circles of friends when you’re still not known because very soon, you will not easily know the true and the fake.
As you live to please God daily, determine to see the God-factor even in your difficult moments.
Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.
James 1:2-4 MSG
God bless you.
